"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Acts 20:35 (NIV)

365 Things To Do

Writing a list of 365 ways to impact the world was not an easy task. I prayed a lot about the challenge, then I sat down with my computer and began to brainstorm. I thought about all of the different ways to give and the depth of impact. First, I defined the four different ways to give: time, money, resources and prayer. Then I analyzed the different populations I could give to: those in my household, my own social circle of family and friends, neighborhood, church, community, city, county, state, region/time zone, country, continent, and finally, the world. I believe that the impact of giving can have a ripple effect but I wanted to know specifically who I was targeting with each day's action.

The list is not meant to make this challenge a quantitative one, but rather to help guide my actions and keep my mind open to the possible ways to give each day. Also, I believe it is important to have a written goal to help achieve success. I have always been told that people who write their goals are more likely to succeed. Besides, I know that if I had to come up with a new idea each day, I would start to feel more burdened by coming up with the task than I would feel joyful about actually doing it.

I want this blog to be a place of inspiration, accountability and encouragement. I want to inspire others to get involved and make a change of their own. I want to be held accountable to do what I believe God has told me to do; I want to be obedient. Lastly, we all need encouragement. I pray that through this challenge I can encourage others to draw nearer to Christ. (I would also love the encouragement to keep going through this challenge, as I know it will not always be easy.) I had done some research before beginning this challenge. To my knowledge, there are no other blogs or websites offering so many ideas to help encourage others to get involved.

So here you go! Feel free to pick a challenge and begin today. There are plenty to choose from! You can view the complete list or my calendar to see what I have planned.
